Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit TopicWeek, for what purpose and what rights you have, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).

Data controller

Controller
Juan de Dios García de Ves

The owner's full identification details are set out in the Legal Notice.

In short

  • You can read TopicWeek without registering and without giving us any personal data.
  • We do not use analytics tools. TopicWeek may use Google AdSense to show advertising, as explained in the "Advertising (Google AdSense)" section.
  • Personal data is processed in the technical logs the server generates with each visit, in the messages you send us by email and, when advertising is shown, by Google AdSense in accordance with your consent choices.

Browsing data (server logs)

As with any website, when you visit TopicWeek the server receives and may automatically log some technical data: your IP address, the date and time of the visit, the page requested (including, where applicable, the terms entered in the search box), your browser and operating system, and the referring page.

  • Purpose: to display the website, ensure that it works properly and securely, and detect abusive use.
  • Legal basis: the controller's legitimate interest in offering a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Retention: these logs are generated and kept by the hosting provider for the period set out in its own policy. The controller does not keep them separately or use them to identify users.

To show you the version in your language, the website reads the language preference sent by your browser. This information is used on the spot and is not stored.

Messages you send us

If you write to us at contact@topicweek.com, we will process your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message.

  • Purpose: to reply to your enquiry and, where applicable, to handle requests to exercise your rights.
  • Legal basis: your consent, which you give by sending us the message (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and, when you exercise your rights, compliance with a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
  • Retention: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and, afterwards, for the limitation periods of any liability that may arise.

Please do not include unnecessary data in your messages, especially health data or other special categories of data.

Language preference

If you choose a language in the selector, the TW_LOCALE cookie is stored in your browser. It only contains the code of the chosen language. More information in the Cookie Policy.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

TopicWeek may use Google AdSense, a Google service, to show advertising on its pages. When ads are shown, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies and process information related to your device, such as identifiers, your IP address, browser data and the pages you visit.

  • Purpose: to show ads, measure their performance, limit how often you see them and help prevent fraud and, if you consent, to personalise them according to your interests.
  • Legal basis: your consent, where required, for the use of cookies and similar technologies for advertising purposes and for ad personalisation (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 22(2) LSSI-CE).
  • Who decides: Google determines how it processes the data it collects through its advertising technologies, in accordance with its own policies.

When advertising is shown, a consent message from Google’s consent management platform will be used in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, through which you can accept, reject or manage your preferences before these technologies are used for advertising purposes. Once that message is active on the website, you will be able to reopen the privacy options and change or withdraw your consent using the controls provided by Google.

If you do not give certain consents, Google may limit personalisation, apply more limited ad processing or not serve certain ads, depending on the applicable settings and consent signals.

More information: how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also manage ad personalisation in My Ad Center.

Recipients

We do not share your data with third parties unless required by law. The following providers process data on the controller's behalf (processors) in order to provide the service:

  • Hostinger, web hosting and content delivery network (CDN) provider, with servers located in France.
  • Hostinger, as email service provider, to receive and manage the messages you send us.

In addition, when advertising is shown, Google (Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland) receives information from your browser through Google AdSense and processes it as an independent controller, in accordance with its own privacy policy.

International transfers

The website is hosted on servers located in France, within the European Union, and the controller itself does not carry out international data transfers. When advertising is shown, Google may process data outside the European Economic Area; according to Google, it does so with the safeguards provided for in Chapter V of the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

You can exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Access to your personal data.
  • Rectification of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure of your data.
  • Objection to processing.
  • Restriction of processing.
  • Portability of your data.
  • Withdrawal of consent, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise them, write to us at contact@topicweek.com stating the right you wish to exercise. If necessary to verify your identity, we may ask you for additional information.

If you believe that the processing of your data does not comply with the law, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) (www.aepd.es).

Automated decisions

The controller does not make automated decisions or create profiles using your data. If you consent, Google may use information about your browsing to personalise the ads it shows, as explained in the "Advertising (Google AdSense)" section.

Minors

TopicWeek is not aimed at children under 14. If you are under 14, do not send us personal data without the consent of your parents or guardians (Article 7 LOPDGDD).

Security

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and the controller applies reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data it processes.

YouTube videos

Some articles offer official YouTube videos. The video is not loaded when you open the page. If you choose “Load official video”, your browser contacts YouTube/Google, which may receive your IP address, browser data and the page origin and may use cookies or similar technologies. You can read the article without activating a video.

The player uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which does not eliminate all data processing. See Google’s Privacy Policy and YouTube’s Terms. TopicWeek does not store your per-video choice.

Services we do not currently use

TopicWeek does not currently use analytics tools, embed social-media feeds or offer user accounts.

The subscription form shown on the home page is not active yet: it does not send or store any data.

If we add any of these services in the future, we will update this policy before activating them and, where required by law, ask for your consent.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the way the website works or the applicable law changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
